CBB spread vs moneyline: same projected score, different bet.

A projected score implies both a fair spread and a fair moneyline. Prefer the spread when you trust the margin more than the coin-flip of a close favorite. Prefer the moneyline when the book overprices a dog or underprices a strong favorite relative to win probability.

01

Blowout projection

Large expected margin: spreads often carry the edge; ML favorites may be juice-heavy.

02

Toss-up projection

Near pick'em: moneyline dogs or small favorites can be cleaner than buying thin spreads.

03

Key numbers

CBB has fewer sacred numbers than NFL, but half-points still matter vs fair — compare on spread projections.

FAQ

  • Should I always bet the bigger edge?

Edge percent is not unit size. Use bankroll rules and documented stakes.

  • Do futures use the same idea?

Futures are season-long probabilities — see CBB futures.
